Love Hurts

Dreams become visions. Visions become ideas. Ideas become reality.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Mala was surrounded by culture, diversity, and graffiti. Raised in a Mexican family of first generations she had the privilege of experiencing both American and Mexican culture growing up. Traveling to Mexico throughout her childhood she was always inspired by the vibrancy of colors, street art, street vendors, and music. From learning classical guitar with her grandpa and watching him make everything with his hands, she began to discover her love for creating at an early age. It wasn’t until her late 20s when Mala decided to reconnect with creativity and deep dive into her art.

With a Masters in Social Work and B.A. in Psychology, Mala began a career as a mental health therapist where she discovered the beauty of self awareness and empowerment. To further discover her own self awareness, Mala changed life courses to embark on her personal journey towards self awareness where she decided to immerse her self creatively and began her career as an artist. From a self taught artist, mental health therapist, to a muralist assistant—Mala is now a full-time freelance artist combining creativity, awareness, and connection with intentions of inspiring a brighter future.
